Fresh Growers Ltd is a co-operative formed in June 1998 by 10 farmers producing vegetables, potatoes, cereal and oilseeds on a 20,000 acre land base (8000 hectares).  The company started trading in June 1999 from Offices rented in Tuxford, mainly selling Nottinghamshire dirty carrots to packers and washing some at one of the member’s farms.

In 2003 the company purchased a freehold site at Inkersall just off the A614 15 miles north of Nottingham, this is a 10 acre site with planning for 75,000 sq ft of buildings.  In 2003 construction of building one took place to house the wash line which later also included the addition of the Chantenay line in 2005.  2006 saw the construction of building two a white wall factory with new offices and facilities.

 

Fresh Growers Ltd currently provides agronomy, handling, grading, washing, packing and marketing services for the crops grown by its members.  The objective of these activities is to add value to member’s produce to ensure the sustainability of their farm businesses.

The main crops currently grown by members are carrots, potatoes, parsnips, asparagus and lettuce.
